Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing technique. It is based on the concept that “life force energy” is flowing through each and every one of us at any given moment and is what keeps us alive, healthy and vibrant. If for any reason that life-force energy is low, there is a higher likelihood of us being sick, unwell or in a state of dis-ease. And if that life-force energy is high and replenished, we are more likely to be in a state of health and thriving.
The word Reiki itself consists of two Japanese words. Rei – means “Higher power” and Ki – means “life force energy”. Combining the two words gives the meaning of “spiritually guided life-force energy”.
A Reiki treatment is very gentle form of healing. It usually induces a feeling of relaxation, calm and radiance through and around you. It works on the whole system – body, mind and spirit in a beneficial way relative to feelings of peace, safety and well-being.
A recent study reviewing the availanle clinical studies, conducted in 2017 suggests that “Reiki is a safe and gentle “complementary” therapy that activates the parasympathetic nervous system to heal body and mind.” (McManus, D.E., 2017. Reiki is better than placebo and has broad potential as a complementary health therapy. Journal of evidence-based complementary & alternative medicine, 22(4), pp.1051-1057.)
Reiki is applied through a gentle touch of hands, which is non-invasive and nonmanipulative. It is basically done through laying the practitoner’s hands on the receiver either just above or lighly on the body of the client. It is always done fully clothed.
There are various hand positions which are done in order slowly moving through the front part of the body and then through the back part of the body.
Although Reiki is spiritual technique in its nature, it is not related to any doctrine or organized religion. As such, neither the practitioner, nor the receiver are required to have any specific belief system. Reiki is widely accepted by people from all backgrounds and belief systems.
This session is aimed to work with the Hara Energy Center (called womb in female bodies and hara in male bodies). It is located at the pubic bone. It is not referring to the physical uterus or womb, but rather the energetic center corresponding to it.
It can be used for emotional healing, ancestral healing, collective healing, shifting masculine and feminine dynamics and unifying them and many others.
It intends to cleanse and clear any distortions from the hara that needs to be released in order to get it back into alignment.
The journey differs a lot from person to person, as well as from session to session.
It may include strong emotional releases, but it’s not necessary.
